Our Sourcing Team is the backbone of our organization. Sourcing analysts meet with high growth startups across the country and perform diligence along with prepare investment memos on those startups for our Partner VCs.

An overview of our
Sourcing Timeline

Sourcing Analysts identify new investment opportunities.
After identifying new opportunities, our Sourcing Analysts reach out to founders and set up meetings.
After the initial call, our Sourcing Analysts perform further diligence and make a sourcing screening decision for our board.
If our Executive board approves the sourcing screening decision, we send a referral to our VC partners.

1. Lead Generation

*Analysts identify new investment opportunities*

Through a wide range of sources – including the Harvard network, startup conferences, and VCG’s own Entrepreneurship Summit – our analysts discover new startups with passionate founders and bright futures.

2. Founder Meeting

*Analysts set up meetings with founders*

After identifying promising investment opportunities, our analysts engage in sourcing calls with startup founders to better understand their mission, concept, and model.

3. Diligence

*Analysts perform further diligence and make a sourcing screening decision*

Trained to recognize the signs of a successful startup, our analysts conduct research on the founder, product, and market. Based on their findings, they decide whether to recommend the startup to our VC partners.

4. Final Review and Referral

*The Executive Board approves the sourcing screening decision and sends a referral to our VC partners*

VCG’s Executive Board reviews the analysts’ report to confirm the referral recommendation. Approved startups are then referred to our VC partners for a warm introduction.
